July 2008 Newsletter

Shalom and Greetings from Zambia.

July has seen the president of Sudan Omar  Hassan al-Bashir indicted for genocide and crimes against humanity. This has been a good sign. Remember all it takes for evil to truimph is for good men to keep silent. Al-Bashir is a good muslim and being true to his religion he has persecuted non-muslims and black african muslims in Durfur. Many believers in Yeshua (Jesus) in Sudan feel abandoned by the larger body outside.

Christians in southern Sudan have been murdured in great numbers for their faith and many have fled the country. Many stories of rape, forced conversion, slavery, of schools and hospitals being bombed by the Sudanese army, stories of believers being burnt alive for refusing to convert have all been documented and many more will never be known.

Belusha was a proffessor in a small southern Sudanese town of Madrhu and was driven away from his home with nothing excerpt the clothes on his body. Many in his community were murdered. For three weeks he escaped into the bush with his family heading towards the Ugandan border. His twin daughters aged seven both died of starvation and exhaustion and were buried in the bush.

He now lives in a refugee camp in Zambia and recently lost his wife too. He  is one of those we have been helping as a ministry with clothing and other needs. Islam is real and it is determined to conquer the non-muslim world. We need to pray that this religion will be conquered.

Our radio outreach has been bearing lots of  good fruit. Many have called asking how they can become believers and we have recieved a request to plant a congregation in Northern Zambia. We are coming to the end of our 13 paid up radio programs  and once again are asking for sponsers to help us spread the life giving and life changing good news until all have heared. One program costs $81 to air.

In a few days i will be travelling to eastern Zambia to teach church leaders and also visit our congregation. Kindly pray for travelling mercies and that many of these leaders who are very poor and walk many miles to preach the word will be encouraged. It is in eastern Zambia where we distributed hundreds of Bibles espeacially to congregational leaders. Some of the leaders were too poor to afford a Bible yet had a congregation. It is in eastern Zambia where you find a lot of muslims and it was here were the campus crusade representative reported that Muslims where buying Bibles and destroying them. I have come to learn that when there is so much opposition it only means that there is a great harvest waiting.

When we surrender ourselves to the Lord we allow Him to use us for His glory. Numbers, age and abilities or money does not count much with Him. Jillian is a wonderful seven year old girl from Colorado who organised a walk to raise money to drill a water well in an african village. Many came and supported this wonderful girl and the money was raised and now the well has been drilled.

over 500 villagers will now have access to clean drinking water. What this means is diseases like Cholera and other water born diseases will be a thing of the past. Drawing water from crocodile infested streams and rivers will be a thing of the past for these villagers. And above all the villagers have had an opportunity to hear of  G-d's love. The well was drilled at a congregation and membership has risen by over 60%. Praise G-d.

Our congregation lost to death three members. One of  deceased died of headache and her brother who was not our member died of the same, on the same day only hours apart. We also lost our head usher.

We are looking for more sponsors to help build the Jerome Fliescher Orphanage. The perimeter wall has been completed. Thousands of orphaned  children live on the streets in  Zambia. There are over 30 million orphans in sub-sahara Africa. For us who are believers we know that true and pure religion involves taking care of orphans and widows (james 1:27). G-d has brought 123 orphans under our care and our prayer is to house them too. Apart from giving them school and food we plan to give them a roof over their heads. Kindly pray how you can partner with us to make this a reality. We plan to build in four phases and each phase will cost $50,000.

 Prayer points

  • Persecution by the animists has continued on one of our congregations in Northern Zambia. A few years we lost two congregations and our members were physically assaulted. Our people are being called Satanists for upholding scriptural values and for refusing to participate in the many unbiblical local customs.
  • Our Shalom Zambia radio program to touch many people who cant be reached by roads and by other means.
  • funds for the building of the House of prayer and of the orphanage.
  • For Fay and Me that G-d will give us wisdom and direction.
  • The salvation of the Jews of Africa, Muslims and animists.
  • Pray for the Yeshua Conference in the UK.
  • For Adam who is coming from Israel to help rural farmers learn better irrigation methods.
