Shalom Newsletter.
July 2011 Newsletter.
A word from Alex.
Shalom from Zambia the heart of Africa.
To all our American friends we say a happy 4th of July.
Mathew 5:13 says "you are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, excerpt to be thrown out and trampled by men."
Salt had two purposes in the middle east of the first century. Because of a lack of refrigeration, salt was used to preserve food, especially meat which would quickly spoil in the desert environment. As a believer in Messiah Yeshua you are a preservative to the world, helping to preserve it from the evil inherent in the society of ungodly men whose unredeemed nature is corrupted by sin.
Salt was used then, as now, as a flavor enhancer. In the same way that salt enhances the flavor of the food it seasons, the followers of Yeshua stand out as those who "enhance" the flavor of life in this world. As salt has a positive influence on the flavor of the food it seasons may you as a believer in Yeshua influence the world for good.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ISRAEL!!

Alex with the Israeli ambassador to Zambia Jacob Keider.
We joined the rest of the Jewish and Christian Zionist world in celebrating Israel's 63rd birthday. Our partners Jerusalem House of Prayer hosted the event which was graced by his excellency the ambassador of Israel to Zambia Jacob Keider. Praise God for His faithfulness to His Jewish people.
ZAMBIA MOURNS FORMER PRESIDENT.

Former President Fredrick Chiluba.
On June the 18th Zambia's second president Fredrick Chiluba passed on to glory and the nation mourned him for seven days. Chiluba was a firm believer in Yeshua the Messiah of Israel. During his ten year term as president he declared Zambia a Christian nation and restored deplomatic ties with Israel which had been severed in 1973.
Chiluba was a firm lover of Israel and the Jewish people. Last year our congregation donated a tallis and kippor which was used to honor him for his faith and love for Israel. May his memory live on.
PRAISE REPORT.
In recognition of our services to the poor, orphans, hungry, disabled, the thirsty and many others, the government of the Republic of Zambia last month granted us a Tax exempt certificate! Well, this is great news indeed but it comes with strings. We are to pay tax on all goods except on construction goods and we are exempt from paying tax on all donations coming from outside Zambia. So send those containers!
CONGREGATIONS
Thank you for praying for our trip to eastern Zambia. God revealed some very important information. For over a year we sent a man to plant a congregation in this predominant Moslem area. We supported him finacially and we received praise report after praise report that the congregation was growing so fast. Unannounced Fay and I drove to Chipata eatern Zambia. Well, there is no congregation and all the reports we were getting were false. The man even went under.
What you dont inspect you dont expect. There is a growing number of con pastors in Africa mostly targetting westerners and small congregations. Don't commit money or resources to ministries in Africa without first verifying them.
Radio.
Our Shalom Zambia radio outreach is off air. We still have a contract with the National broadcaster ZNBC to air the outreach program. The radio outreach went to over 2.5 million people through out Zambia. Would you kindly consider sponsoring a single broadcast for $110 per week or 13 programs for $1430?
Court case.
We were given another indefinite adjournment. The high court Judge presiding over our court case was promoted to the Zambian Supreme Court and we are yet to be given another Judge to look into our case.
The matter at hand is that we were sued for our land even though we have all the valid title and building approvals. The man suing us had threatened to kill and he went on to damage our frontage and uprooted some of the trees in front of the orphanage.
He was arrested and he dropped the claim to our land. He is now claiming the frontage which will deny us access to our property. Kindly pray that no amount of corruption, abuse of authority will take away our frontage.
Orphanage.

Congregation 268 of Idaho sent our orphans wonderful gift packages.
The children at our orphanage school received a rare treat from Congregational 268 of Idaho who sent gift packages to the children. Thank you Pastor David and congregational 268!!
SPORTS DAY
The orphans had their first sports day in ten years. The event was organized by Fay with the help of the teachers and volunteers of Jerome Fleischer orphanage. The kids had a great day. Kids who have lost their childhood due to the grim realities of being an orphan in a third world country found time to do what other kids do, play.

Sponsor an Orphan project.
You can now sponsor an orphan for only $25 a month at the Jerome Fleischer orphanage school. Sponsoring an orphan will give you an opportunity to correspond with your sponsored orphan, to pray for him or her, help them try to recover their lost childhood and it will also give you the opportunity to encourage the child to do well in school.
Your sponsorship will allow us to give the children three meals a day as opposed to one meal a day, school supplies, medical care and housing when the orphanage building is completed. Step into the world of an orphan and be a life changer. All donations towards sponsoring an orphan should be given through Congregational Roeh Israel (see bottom of this newsletter). To sponser an orphan contact our USA representative Debra Green at zmforphanage@gmail.com or call 303-219-4591
We also have opportunities for one time giving at the end of the newsletter..
