Shalom and Greetings from Zambia.

About 34 years ago under pressure from the Muslim Arab  members of the Organization Of African Unity (OAU) that had just lost the 1973 war with Israel, most African countries including Zambia cut off diplomatic relations with the Jewish state. Almost all those African nations who cut off ties had received enormous economic help from Israel. When the Jews left the economies of those countries collapsed. Countries that had no natural resources like Malawi but did not cut off  ties with Israel prospered and countries like Zambia which was once the third largest producer of copper in the world had their economies go down the drain.

The flag of Israel was lowered and it left those countries including Zambia. The Zambia Messianic Fellowship with other lovers of Israel joined the rest of the world in celebrating the 60th independence anniversary of the State of Israel with a jubilant procession in downtown Lusaka the capital. The Zambia police brass  band led the procession and the flag of Israel was once again lifted up and displayed in downtown Lusaka. Those in the procession included Catholics, Jews, Methodists, Pentecostals and many others. Three Chiefs (African kings or tribal Leaders) including the chairman of the Zambian house of chiefs, Chief Mumena was also in attendance. Others included the ambassador of Tanzania.

The procession was then  addressed by the Minister of Home Affairs Lt Gen Ronnie Shikapwasha who prayed for Israel and the Jewish people on behalf of the government of Zambia.

I would also like to take this time to thank all who made my trip possible to the United States and all those who blessed the ministry here especially the Shabbat school kids from Congregational Roeh Israel who raised $600 to feed the Zambian orphans and the Beth Messiah Youths in Ohio who raised $150 for the orphans. I would like to thank also seven year old Jillian   who attends Tri Lakes Chapel for organizing the "walk for the well" walk which raised enough to drill a water well in one of the villages we minister in. Such a well will provide clean water to thousands of villagers who don't have access to clean water. Many thanks also go to Roeh Israel who provided a water purification system for the orphans. Thank you to all the Rabbis and pastors and the many new people i met and who want to be involved with what G-d is doing here. Blessings.

Our school for orphans has lately expanded and taken in an extra 20 orphans bringing the number to 120. We plan to employ two more teachers (we only have two teachers for the 120 orphans) and $120 a month would pay a teacher's salary. Kindly pray if this is what you may want to do. We would also like to rent more space for the 120 orphans. Right now we only have  three small classrooms and most of the orphans sit on the floor.

Prayer points

  • Be praying for our upcoming youth conference that will be attended by youths from four of our nine congregations.
  • Persecution by the animists has continued on one of our congregations in Northern Zambia. A few years we lost two congregations and our members were physically assaulted. Our people are being called Satanists for upholding scriptural values and for refusing to participate in the many unbiblical customs.
  • My one year old daughter Eliana who has been diagnosed with Asthma.
  • Our Shalom Zambia radio program to touch many people who cant be reached by roads and other means.
  • The smooth building of the House of prayer and of the orphanage.
  • For Fay and Me that G-d will give us wisdom and direction.
  • leadership training for our leaders.
  • The salvation of the Jews of Africa, Muslims and animists.
