Shalom Newsletter
October 2010 Newsletter.
Shalom from Zambia.
Outreach;
Last year we had an outreach to the 30,000 strong Goba tribe of the Zambezi river basin. Their leader cheiftainess Chiawa gave her life to the God of Israel and then cancelled the yearly tribal festival dedicated to ancestral tribal spirits. A one week festival to the God of Israel was instituted and during this time prayer, worship and study of the Bible took center stage.
Last year only about 14 village leaders out of 40 took part and many boycotted the new biblical festival. I am glad to report that this year over half of the village elders attended and one renowned sorcerer who happes to have also led the rebellion against anything biblical gave her life to the Lord. The crowd was also much bigger than last year.
PRAISE REPORTS.
Over two million people listen to our weekly Shalom Zambia radio outreach. Every week we have people calling in, visiting our offices and writing us for more information and telling us how much they been blessed by our informative outreach. So far one congregation has been born due to our radio outreach.
A single broadcast costs about $100 and the radio outreach will come to an end this month of October. Help us extend it to December until many hear of the good news of the Lord.
We have also started growing food at a rented farm outside Lusaka for our orphans. We expect to harvest our first crop in November.
ORPHANAGE
We now have 151 orphans at our Jerome Fleischer Orphanage. Construction of the new orphanage building is about 87% complete.
Court Case.
Thank you to all who prayed and to those who gave to help us pay attorney fees. We will again be in court November 16th for trail. The case at hand is the creation of a new lot right at our orphanage frontage thus denying us access to the orphanage property. Please join the orphans of Jerome Fleischer in petitioning Our God to give us a victory over the city council and those who are trying to block our entrance. The land was given to us by the government of Zambia and we have valid title and approved plans.
Challanges;
All our three mini vans have broken down and two are in need of an over haul. The mini vans are used a taxi business and bring in half of the orphanage income. For three months now, we have had no income from our min vans and half of our staff have not been paid. I am glad to say that one mini van is now being repaired.
